Soil Management for Urban Trees

The goal of the workshop is to help practitioners develop some applied skills in soil management for urban trees. Today’s workshop will include hands-on work for assessing soils. We will apply this soil assessment information for developing a soil management plan. The management plan will focus on typical urban soil issues such as compaction, salts, fertility, etc. The workshop will also include an introduction and time for wrap-up and discussion.

This daylong event will discuss and demonstrate techniques, concepts, and tools for the climbing arborist working in trees. Topics include:
tree biomechanics, work plan/processes, risk management, anchors/tie ins, select type, alternate options due to compromises, positioning while working in the crown of a tree, Iimb walking, how to get secure and comfortable aloft, spar work: positioning techniques and tips, and demoing a wide variety of climbing systems and devices
UP-UP and Away! An Introductory Workshop to Tree Climbing and Basic Rigging

This hands-on workshop is aimed at new or newer climbers to help you establish or build on the best safe work practices in aerial arboriculture.  Attendees are encouraged to saddle up and participate, though this not a requirement. Instruction will focus on Gear safety through inspection, tree/site inspection, emergency preparedness, first aid, climbing techniques, knots and tools, basic rigging principles and line of fire. (All skill levels are welcome).
