Tree Species Selection

Tree Species and Their Selection
As communities plan for long-term canopy health, resilience, and diversity, thoughtful tree species selection is more important than ever. Join ISA Michigan for this Municipal Month webinar featuring Lawrence Law, Urban and Community Forester and Partnership Coordinator with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

In this session, Lawrence will explore key considerations in tree species selection for community forestry and urban planting projects. Drawing on his leadership in developing the Michigan Communities Tree Species Selection Guide, he will share practical insight into choosing the right trees for the right places based on site conditions, community goals, diversity, and long-term performance.

This webinar is designed for municipal staff, tree board members, arborists, and anyone involved in planning and managing public trees. Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of how informed species selection can support healthier, more sustainable community forests across Michigan.

Attendees will earn 1 CEU
