Matt grew up in the greater Ann Arbor area and graduated from Northern Michigan University with a B.S. in Earth Science and a minor in GIS. He is an ISA Certified Arborist and a TCIA Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP).



5.75 ISA CEU's credits are available.

Accidents involving chainsaws are a significant concern for tree care and landscape employers, the employees who operate the equipment, and manufacturers alike. Strong anecdotal information from the field tells us that chain saw operators receive little or no formal training on chainsaw operation and field maintenance.


This 1 day course will cover all aspects of chainsaw safety, handling, maintenance including the six-step felling process of how to properly fell a tree also dealing with trees after they are on the ground limbing and bucking. Some hands-on performing of notching, saw handling and felling will be incorporated.
